About Wendy
Welcome to my world of exploring all things French...
I live with my husband Fisher, our dog Pip and our ginger cat Rousseau in a vignerons village in the Occitanie region of France. I fell in love with France many years ago and made it my home in 2009. It was a passion for wine that enticed me here and it’s the way of life anchored in a love for simple pleasures that keeps me here. Through my monthly journal The Franco-Files, my book The Wines of the Languedoc-Roussillon and my novels I share all the things I know and love about this fabulous country with a deep focus on Languedoc-Roussillon, the part of Occitanie often called ‘The other South of France.’

Explore the wines of the 'other South of France'...
There was a time when Languedoc-Roussillon had very little to offer in the way of quality wine, but things have changed dramatically over the past 20 years. Languedoc-Roussillon is now known for quality and diversity and is home to many ancient grape varieties preserved by passionate wine makers. Organic, biodynamic and natural wines are produced alongside traditional methods and you'll find an astonishing range of reds, whites and rosés as well as sparkling, ‘pet nat’, orange and blouge..!
Although it might be an exciting wine region, it can also be a confusing one, so at last here is a book that explains its Appellations, Vin du Pays and Vin de France wines. Whether you’re a beginner or ultimate connoisseur, this beautifully illustrated book will take you into a wine region that is often sorely underestimated.
The world of wine is slow to change but new things do happen and for those who buy this book the Languedoc Updates page is designed to keep you informed.

The French Bed
by Wendy Gedney
Coming in 2025...
Dreaming of the past...
I got the idea for my debut novel, The French Bed when I bought an antique bed and wondered about the lives of the people who’d slept in it before me. As well as immersing you in undiscovered Languedoc, much of this romance-mystery is set in Paris during the 1920’s and the the WWII occupation. Of course, as the author of The Wines of the Languedoc-Roussillon, it felt natural to include a few characters who love wine..!
Discovering her eight-year affair was based on lies investigative journalist Lizzy symbolically burns her bed replacing it with an antique French one. The bed brings her dreams of murder, death and birth, a tragic love story from the past that leads her to Paris. The trail goes cold apart from one tantalizing clue: a postcard of a walled city, could it be Carcassonne? Lizzy embarks on a journey to the south of France chasing a mystery that blurs the line between past and present.
Wendy's Journal
My Journal... The Franco-Files
I live in Occitanie; that beautiful patch of France bordering the Mediterranean Sea and butting up to Catalonia in the south-west and Provence in the east. It stretches north to encompass most of southwest France and is where I spend much of my time. I also love visiting and writing about other French regions, exploring them in my trusty camper van.
As a true Francophile I thought it would be fun to name my journal The Franco-Files. Every month I write about wines I’ve tasted, food I’ve eaten and places I've visited intending to whet your appetite and encourage you to visit this magical place. Find out more...
